Toasted Italian Sandwich Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Bread and Meats

01 - 1 large Italian sub roll or ciabatta bread
02 - 4 slices salami
03 - 4 slices pepperoni
04 - 4 slices ham or capicola
05 - 4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese

→ Fresh Toppings

06 - 1 cup shredded lettuce
07 - 4 slices tomato
08 - 2 tablespoons red onion, thinly sliced
09 - 2 tablespoons banana peppers (optional)

→ Dressing and Condiments

10 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
11 - 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
12 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
13 - 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
02 - Slice the sub roll or ciabatta bread lengthwise and lay it open on a baking sheet.
03 - Layer the salami, pepperoni, ham, and cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
04 - Place the sandwich in the oven and toast for 6-8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
05 - Meanwhile, toss shredded lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and banana peppers with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl.
06 - Remove the sandwich from the oven, add the prepared veggie mixture on top of the melted cheese. Spread mayonnaise or mustard on the top half of the bread if using, close the sandwich, slice in half, and serve warm.
