Southern Bread Pudding (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 cups Hawaiian rolls cubed and stale (one package of 12 rolls).
02 - 5 eggs beaten.
03 - 2 cups white sugar.
04 - 2 cups milk.
05 - 3 teaspoons vanilla extract.
06 - 1 cup brown sugar.
07 - 1/4 cup butter softened.
08 - 1 cup pecans chopped.
09 - 1 egg beaten (for sauce).
10 - 1 cup white sugar (for sauce).
11 - 1/2 cup butter melted (for sauce).
12 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for sauce).

# Instructions:

01 - Cut Hawaiian rolls into cubes and leave out for 24 hours to become stale.
02 - Add stale bread cubes to a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish.
03 - Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well and pour over bread. Let soak 10 minutes.
04 - Mix brown sugar and softened butter in a bowl. Add pecans and mix. Sprinkle over soaked bread.
05 - Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes until bread is golden on edges.
06 - Beat egg in small bowl. Add sugar, melted butter and vanilla. Mix well. Cook in saucepan on medium heat until sugar dissolves.
07 - Pour warm sauce over baked bread pudding and serve.

# Notes:

01 - Can use day-old bread toasted instead of waiting 24 hours.
02 - Can add cinnamon or maple syrup for variation.
03 - Can use bourbon in sauce for different flavor.
04 - Can use whole milk or heavy cream for richer taste.
