Easy Pecan Turtle Bars Recipe (Print Version)

Decadent bars featuring layers of shortbread, caramel, pecans, and chocolate. A classic treat that combines everyone's favorite flavors.

# Ingredients:

→ Shortbread Crust

01 - 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 cup brown sugar
03 - 0.5 cup butter, softened

→ Caramel & Pecan Layer

04 - 0.67 cup butter
05 - 0.5 cup brown sugar
06 - 1 cup pecan halves

→ Chocolate Topping

07 - 1 cup milk chocolate chips

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
02 - In a sizable mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and softened butter. Use an electric mixer to blend at medium speed for 2-3 minutes, until mixture achieves a fine crumb consistency. Transfer to an ungreased 13x9 inch baking pan and press firmly to form an even crust.
03 - In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine butter and brown sugar. Stir continuously until bubbles appear consistently across the surface. Continue stirring for an additional 30-60 seconds to thicken the caramel, then remove from heat.
04 - Distribute pecan halves evenly across the crust. Carefully pour the hot caramel mixture over the pecans, ensuring even coverage.
05 - Bake for 18-20 minutes, until the surface bubbles and edges turn golden brown.
06 - Remove from oven and place on a wire cooling rack. Immediately sprinkle milk chocolate chips over the hot surface. Let melt for 2-3 minutes, then gently swirl with a knife or small spatula for a marbled effect.
07 - Allow to cool completely at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Cut into 48 equal portions using a sharp knife, cleaning the blade between cuts for clean edges.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for best results
02 - Clean knife between cuts for professional-looking bars
03 - Let chocolate melt naturally from residual heat rather than reheating
