Baked Apples with Maple Oats (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Fruit Base

01 - 4 fresh apples, halved and cored
02 - 1 cup water for baking
03 - Pure maple syrup for drizzling

→ For the Oat Topping

04 - 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
05 - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
06 - 2 tablespoons chopped pecans
07 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
08 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
09 - 1/8 teaspoon salt
10 - 2 tablespoons butter, melted

# Instructions:

01 - Start by preheating your oven to a cozy 350°F (175°C).
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine the oats, flour, pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and mix until everything is well combined and crumbly.
03 - Cut each apple in half vertically through the core. Using a spoon or knife, carefully hollow out the center of each half, and create small triangle cuts to remove the stem and core areas.
04 - Place the prepared apple halves in a baking dish. Fill each apple cavity generously with the oat mixture. Drizzle maple syrup over each filled apple. Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the baking dish, and bake for about 1 hour until the apples are tender.
05 - Once done, give each apple a final drizzle of maple syrup and serve while warm. Perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

# Notes:

01 - Check the water level halfway through baking - add 1/4 cup more if needed, but avoid making it too watery
02 - The finished dish should have a sauce-like consistency in the bottom of the baking dish
