Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a bowl or paper bag. Set aside.

Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375°F, about 2 1/2 inches deep.

Combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons oil in a saucepan. Bring to boil.

Remove from heat and stir in flour until it forms a ball.

Once cool enough to handle, roll dough into walnut-sized balls.

Fry 3-4 balls at a time until golden brown.

Roll hot poppers in cinnamon sugar mixture.
