Easy Homemade Candy Apples (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 12 small red or green apples.
02 - 12 lollipop or popsicle sticks.
03 - 3 cups sugar.
04 - 1/2 cup light corn syrup.
05 - 1 cup water.
06 - 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring.

# Instructions:

01 - Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Insert sticks firmly into apples. Place on wax paper-lined cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
02 - Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in heavy saucepan over medium heat. Boil until candy thermometer reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
03 - Remove from heat and carefully stir in red food coloring, standing back to avoid splashes.
04 - Dip apples one at a time in candy mixture, swirling to coat. Allow excess to drip off.
05 - Place coated apples on prepared sheet and let cool until candy hardens completely.

# Notes:

01 - Remove apple wax by dipping in hot vinegar water.
02 - Reheat candy coating if it hardens during dipping.
03 - Serve in cupcake wrappers for decoration.
